Texas Tech will enter the 2026-27 season as the only team in the country with multiple players ranked in the top 10 of the PGA Tour University Ranking for the Class of 2027, the organization announced Wednesday. The Red Raiders are also one of seven teams in the country with multiple players ranked in the top 25.

The Red Raiders are led by European Amateur champion Tim Wiedemeyer at No. 4, while U.S. Amateur quarterfinalist Adam Bresnu is ranked No. 9 in the season’s first rankings.

Introduced in 2020, PGA Tour University identifies the best players in collegiate golf and provides membership opportunities on PGA Tour-affiliated tours. Upon the conclusion of the collegiate golf season, the No. 1 player in the final PGA Tour University Ranking earns PGA Tour membership. Players Nos. 2-10 earn Korn Ferry Tour membership, while players finishing 11th through 25th earn exempt membership on PGA Tour Americas. Additionally, a junior or senior who wins the Division II Jack Nicklaus Award (National Player of the Year) will earn exempt membership on PGA Tour Americas upon the conclusion of his collegiate career.

Texas Tech’s Ludvig Åberg became the first No. 1 player in PGA Tour University history to earn PGA Tour membership upon the conclusion of his collegiate career in 2023, paving the way for the biggest names in collegiate golf to have a direct pathway to the tour.

Florida State’s John Pak (2021) and Texas’ Pierceson Coody (2022) earned Korn Ferry Tour membership as the No. 1 players in their respective classes. Texas Tech’s Åberg (2023), Stanford’s Michael Thorbjornsen (2024), North Carolina’s David Ford (2025) and Virginia’s Ben James (2026) subsequently finished No. 1 and earned PGA Tour membership.

In the first six years of PGA Tour University, 130 players from 53 schools have earned performance benefits, while 40 alumni have combined for 67 professional victories. Nine PGA Tour University alumni qualified for the FedExCup Playoffs this season, with four alumni – Åberg, Chris Gotterup, Jacob Bridgeman and Alex Fitzpatrick – advancing to the TOUR Championship.
